As we age, it is natural for the face to lose collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. This leads to the cheeks losing their former definition and becoming flatter.

The process is underpinned by the fat pads (the triangular cheek pads that are located along the edge of the nasolabial fold) shifting downwards, creating an impression of sunken looking cheeks and an overall ageing effect.

The natural ageing process can be compounded by stress, lack of sleep, too much exposure to UV light and certain lifestyle choices often leading to drawn, gaunt features.

Filler can be used to counteract these signs of ageing instantly by:

  • Lifting the cheeks and defining the cheek bones.
  • Lifting the tear troughs, naso labial folds and jowls
  • Adding volume and giving a more youthful contour to the face.
  • Restoring facial proportion and symmetry.

By using filler to expertly sculpt, contour and lift Laurie is able to recreate volume, replenishing hollows and generally lifting the whole facial area. In many cases, by adding fullness to the cheeks Laurie can also improve the appearance of under eye bags.

Results are immediate and there is minimal downtime. Occasionally there can be very mild swelling which will fade within a day or two and possibly mild bruising at the injection site which can easily be covered with make-up.

*Please note that results may vary from client to client depending on various considerations such as age, lifestyle and medical background.

We advise you to avoid blood thinners (alcohol, aspirin, Vitamin E) for 2 days prior to your treatment as thin blood increases the risk of bruising at the injection site. Taking Arnica tablets before treatment will also reduce the risk of bruising.

The vast majority of clients will not experience any symptoms following treatment. However, in the instances of bruising, swelling or redness we recommend the application of a cold compress.

Arnica cream can also reduce bruising. Generally we recommend that you let the area settle immediately after the procedure and avoid touching it. Additionally we advise that you don’t have facial treatments for the next 24-48 hours and avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol, heat or excessive exposure during the following 6-10 hours directly after treatment.

One of the advantages of dermal filler is that although the effects are long lasting, they are not permanent. The effects generally last between 6-12 months, but are dependent on a range of factors such as the area treated, the skin type and condition and also the metabolism of the client.
